Kingdoms <3
Here's a topic for expressing your love for this game.

This is so my fav game in a long time. I want to make some kind of fan art.
I signed in today to see Ronyn took over one of my cities after I fired all the guards to keep the money for myself.
Bad strategy. My towns are loosing their prosperity from my exploitative techniques. Time to start treating them better.

The depth in this game already is awesome.

Glad you're liking it, and able to find some interesting strategies :)

Hopefully there'll be even more strategies possible with future releases. The idea is to make the game very open-ended and putting as few restrictions on your choices as possible.

I have to agree - you've done a great job with this game, Mutant.  I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops!

I like finding the random graveyards around the map. Kinda tells a story. Like all the bodies at the entrance to a dungeon. It would be funny if we all found one town to burry all our dead around. Like an epic holdoff went down :D.

Interesting idea.  Considering I don't think I've buried anyone yet, I might have to shill a couple hundred on a low level character and redshirt him somehow.  Now to think of a good epitath...  Maybe I need to head back to 41,41 and make a marker for the dungeon that never was?

Re: Kingdoms <3
Greebs actually suggested the bury option in the really early days... I really like it, and it's definitely popular, but it doesn't quite fit into the game... i.e. there's no real incentive to bury your characters. I'm hoping to fix that soon though.

I'd think a higher movement cost (as your dragging bodies around) would be one.

Re: Kingdoms <3
Most likely... although that should tie into the encumbrance system... which needs work...

Another possibility is having a max number of days before you can resurrect a characters. Something like 2+level. After that, you'd have no choice but to bury them.

Wow! Entirely new graphics! Looks amazing - much clearer. Respect & thanks. This just keeps getting better!

Edit: play seems much more responsive. Is this an illusion? how did you achieve it?

Glad you like the map tiles, huge credit to Kooho for those.

On responsiveness, didn't really do any optimising in this release. Sometimes restarting the server can speed things up for a while, which might have been what you saw.

I'm glad you like them. It's nice to see them in action, huge credit to Mutant for that.

Heh! - If I squint real hard, I can see all the little people running around in terror in the towns I am about to ransack. Stunning graphics, Kooho! Beautiful balance, fine level detail keeps unfolding as I look. I didn't know that being a barbarian could also be such an aesthetic experience!

Re: Kingdoms <3
I'm enjoying the game thoroughly! Even in it's rather beginning state, there's already so many avenues to be fleshed out and hinted at that is exciting. It's like playing all those old school games like Wizardry, but with a multiplayer element and much more depth.

One thing about the graveyards, I've stumbled on some of them and read them and they are really nice, but I do worry that over time, every inch of the map might become a spammy deathfield of dozens of headstones. Maybe we could consolidate all of the headstones to just 'You see some markers here. (Click to Examine)', which would open it for more detail?

Re: Kingdoms <3
Graveyards in the wilderness are supposed to disappear over time... but I've never implemented that... in towns, they don't disappear.
